Tamil Nadu Govt. may bring New Housing Policy to Build 1.87 lakh Houses

Government of Tamil Nadu has proposed to bring a New Housing Policy to implement a series of changes into existing housing policies in Tamil Nadu. That will surely help to bring down the cost of construction of houses under PM Awas Yojana & will make easy access to affordable houses to EWS candidates. Also an announcement has been made to construct about 1.87 lakh houses in Tamil Nadu, which will be built under various housing schemes including PMAY.

Main objective to implement this New Housing Policy is to promote standard urbanization in undeveloped areas, to provide all basic amenities to people along with affordable houses, to develop infrastructure, to make required amendments into existing master plans.

CM K Palaniswami has made a statement that “We would formulate a new housing & residential policy & its features will include bringing down the cost of construction & ensuring adequate housing facilities for economically weaker section of the society.

Premises may be constructed by the board to provide more security to women & senior citizens.
According to sources, for the implementation of this new housing policy & to slum rehabilitation, it may be associated with private bodies.
