PMAY Housing Scheme 2019-20

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is an initiative by Government of India in which affordable housing will be provide to the urban poor with a target of building 20 million affordable houses by 2022. PMAY has two components Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-u) for the urban poor people and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G/ PMAY-R) for the rural poor people.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana was launched in 2015 with an objective to provide affordable houses to urban poor people. 2 crore houses is proposed to build for urban poor including Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low Income Group (LIG) by the year 2022.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)-2019-20

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban (PMAY-U) has around 4,331 such towns and cities under PMAY-U scheme. It also includes Urban Development Authority, Special Area Development Authority, Industrial Development Authority and Other Authority which is responsible for urban planning and regulations.

Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 2019-20, the government is providing financial assistance to buy, construct and repair a house. Beside this, the government of India is also providing a home loan under PM Awas Yojana 2019-20.
