The state government of Punjab has taken a decision to provide 25,000 houses to the weaker section of the society under Central government housing mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Chandigarh. According to the information received from the source, around 25,000 houses would be made available for EWS (Economical Weaker Section and LIG (Lower Income Group).

The cost of EWS and LIG houses under PMAY in Chandigarh would be Rs. 4.0 lakh and Rs. 6.0 lakh. the above information is given by Chief Secretary in state level bankers meeting held in the mid of last month.
During the meeting, he directed the bankers, financial institutions, construction officers and PUDA senior official regarding the availability of home loan for the beneficiaries of PMAY Chandigarh. A loan up to Rs. 6.0 lakhs would be provided at the interest of 6.5 %. PUDA and area housing department are participating in the construction work of PM Awas Yojana Chandigarh.
PUDA official informed that around 41,000 application forms have been received from 17 towns from which 12,000 beneficiaries would be selected for the first phase. According to the PUDA official, a period of 18 months will be consumed by the task of tenders and allotment.
In the first phase, the applicants will have to pay Rs. 10,000 for EWs and houses and Rs. 25,000/- for LIG houses available under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Complete details of PMAY Chandigarh would soon be available on PUDA’s official website.
