Government of Mumbai is planning to bring a new affordable housing scheme for the welfare of construction workers of Maharashtra. Around 2.5 lakh housing units will be constructed under this project, out of which about 20% of construction cost will be bear under PMAY. A plan has been made to build houses under Mahakamgar Awas Yojana.
Details of Maharashtra Mahakamgar Awas Yojana
- A total of 2.5 lakh houses will be built for construction workers along with basic amenities.
- An estimated cost of housing unit is Rs. 6 lakh.
- Construction of 50,000 housing units will be done in year 2017-18.
- Construction of rest of the houses (2 lakh) will be done within upcoming 4 years.
- Area of houses will be from 25 – 30 sq. meter.
Benefits of Mahakamgar Awas Scheme will be available to only those workers, who are registered under Maharashtra Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
Differently abled, Senior Citizens, SC/ST, Single Women, Transgender, EWS.
Promoters & developers who are employing 10 or more workers within city limit, they will facilitate their workers by constructing houses under PM Awas Yojana.
All promoters will associate with MHADA & Worker Welfare Board through working into a joint venture. Land will be provided by private builders while MHADA will provide FSI of 2.5. Responsibility of designing, building & financing has been given to builders.
PMAY – Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme
Houses will be under CLSS (Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme) component of PMAY. Tenure of home loan will be 20 years, which is payable into EMI. To make affordable houses easily available to workers, 80% of loan will be paid by Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board while 20% will be payable by allotee.
