Plots will be available to slum dwellers who were rehabilitated by constructing new buildings under redevelopment project. Slum dwellers of 132 slum societies will be benefited.

According to sources, government agencies including BMC (Briahnmumbai Municipal Corporation), MHADA (Maharashtra Housing & Area Development Authority) & MMRDA (Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority) has not provided land lease to people living in slums.

SRA is developing around 42 nos of plots, which were owned by BMC. These will be developed into slum societies. Though lease for these plots has been transferred to Slum Rehabilitation Authority.
To make this process completely transparent & to make slum dwellers virtual owners of plots, this project may be consider as a major step in this direction.

Urban Development Minister Ranjit Patil has ensured to provide land/plot to slum dwellers within 1 month by speeding up land transferring procedure. Thus each candidate will own a plot.
