CM Adityanath Yogi to launch Free Housing Scheme in Uttar Pradesh

State Government of Uttar Pradesh is planning to provide free houses to poor people of the state under Uttar Pradesh Free Housing Scheme. First government will provide free houses to candidates of SC/ST & OBC category. UP Government will take loan of Rs. 30 billion to implement this scheme. Around 6.25 lakh poor families will be benefitted through this free housing scheme. Adityanath Yogi has set a target to provide free houses to every homeless family before Lok Sabha elections in year 2019 under PMAY-G.

According to sources, government decided to take loan of Rs. 3,000 crore from HUDCO in first phase.
Homeless people, Candidates having Kutcha House & poor families under Socio, Economic & Caste Census 2011 are eligible to apply for Uttar Pradesh Free Housing Scheme. 24.43 lakh people have been found eligible.

Houses Allotted by Central Government

PMAY-G was implemented on 20 November 2016 instead of Indira Awas Yojana. Till the end of current financial year total 9,70,108 houses were allotted to candidates belonging to various categories.

25 sq. meter houses will be allotted, which will cost upto Rs. 1.20 lakh.
Due to deficiency in fund only 2,19,049 houses can be constructed. For construction of 7,51,059 houses HUDCO has agreed to provide loan at the annual rate of minimum 8.60%.
