Central Govt. Plans to Launch PMAY Urban in Delhi

After solving major issue in a meeting chaired by L-G Anil Baijal, Central Government plans to launch Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban in Delhi. PMAY-U will be implemented soon after 2 years of launching PMAY. An inks agreement was done between Ministry of Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (MoHUPA) & Delhi Governments to implement Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban.

An official told that The Delhi government argued after land ownership in Delhi is under the jurisdiction of the Centre, that holds it through Delhi Development Authority (DDA), it would not be enough to make some commitments on its behalf.

A MoA (Memorandum of Association) is to be signed among the HUPA, the DDA and the DUSIB to make possible to implement Urban Housing Mission in Delhi. Thus it becomes necessary to fulfill all conditions mentioned in MoA including amendments in master plan to provide required land which is necessary for construction of affordable houses. Also it has been ensured to clear approvals of  layout and building permissions in reasonable time by putting them at a single window.

Some land in the national capital also lies with the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) which is under the Delhi government.

With an investmen tof Rs. 1,00,000 crore & Central Assistance of Rs. 29,409 crore cover 18.75 lakh houses has been sanctioned by Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation.

An official told that DDA & DUSIB will be treated as  State-Level Nodal Agencies, which is necessary to implement various components of PMAY-Urban.
