Tamil Nadu Government Sanctioned 2.66 lakh Houses for Slum Dwellers

Government of Tamil Nadu has set a target to launch 2.66 lakh houses for people residing in slums. To bridge the gap for housing, this housing project will be implemented by partnering with private realty agencies (Builders/Developers) under the various component of PM Awas Yojana. Around 22,384 houses have been sanctioned so far. Considering availability of land, 12,000 more houses can be approved I current year.
The carpet area of houses will be 30 sq. meter.

As government has already announced 4 components of PMAY such as – In situ Slum Redevelopment, Credit Linked Subsidy scheme (CLSS), Affordable Housing in Partnership & Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC).

To make affordable house easily available to people & to provide financial assistance, government has decided to implement 2 components mentioned in the below table:

Financial assistance provided by government will be directly transferred to beneficiaries bank accounts.

As per sources, private builders will associate the state government to construct houses for slum dwellers by marketing necessary transferable development rights.
