As per the news of The New Indian Express the government of Odisha has sanctioned 31 housing projects for construction of 10600 affordable houses under Pradhan Mantri awas Yojana (PMAY). These affordable housing will be constructed in 28 municipal areas of the State.

The government of Odisha has so far sanctioned 50,000 houses for urban poor in the first phase in December last year.
Chaired person of state level sanction-cum-monitoring committee, Chief Secretary AP Padhi approved 26 beneficiary led individual house construction (BLC) schemes SLSMC approved one slum development project and six affordable housing projects.
Urban Development Secretary G Mathivathanan said 2,833 houses will be constructed under BLC scheme, 1300 houses developed under slum development and 6462 houses under the affordable housing projects.
The cost of a house is Rs.3 lakh under beneficiary led construction, while government assistance is Rs.2 Lakh including central share of Rs.1.5 lakh for construction of 350 sq ft house. Rest of the cost will be shared by the beneficiary.
According to official sources information the housing and urban development deptt. has been asked to identify beneficiaries and verify their land records in mission mode. before starting the work, the beneficiaries will be asked to file affidavits relating to the land they claimed to have owned before issue of work order for house construction.This will be completed within a month.
The Centre has permit 2,115 new houses under BLC Component of Pradhan Mantri awas Yojana (Urban) for 8 cities. The total cost of development of these project will be Rs.64 crore for the current financial year. The Central share of Rs.32 crore which also has been approved.With this, total no. of affordable houses sanctioned for state was 48,845.
Two projects involving Rs.185 crore have stared at Subuddhipur and Gadakana under this project 2,662 houses will be constructed in area of Subuddhipur and Gadakana city. The state government has also sanctioned a project to be constructed over an area of 37 acres at Madhusudanpali in Rourkela city.
